Consider Yourself Fortunate is the sixth episode of the first season of House of Five Leaves. The episode opens with Akitsu Masanosuke reflecting on his life since he started working with the House of Five Leaves. He is still unsure about the gang and their activities, but he has grown comfortable with his new role as Yaichi's bodyguard. However, his doubts resurface when a member of the gang is killed during a shakedown gone wrong.
Yaichi takes Akitsu aside and tells him that the departed member had become too arrogant and had been acting on his own without Yaichi's permission. Yaichi stresses to Akitsu that their gang is not violent and that they only engage in activities that will not harm anyone. He further adds that he had warned the deceased not to be overzealous and to stay within the rules. But despite the warning, he still insisted on causing trouble, which led to his demise.
Meanwhile, a woman named Otake calls on Yaichi to ask for his help in freeing her husband, who has been imprisoned for writing an article that was critical of the government. The government has labeled the article as seditious, and Otake's husband has been sentenced to death. Otake begs Yaichi to help her find a way to free her husband, and Yaichi agrees to lend his assistance.
Yaichi sends Akitsu to investigate the situation and find any information that could be helpful. Akitsu is hesitant to take on this task, but he ultimately agrees after Yaichi appeals to his conscience, saying that he could not turn his back on someone who is being wrongly accused.
As Akitsu investigates the case, he discovers that a corrupt government official is behind Otake's husband's arrest and sentencing. Akitsu relays this information to Yaichi, who then comes up with a plan to rescue Otake's husband from prison.
With the help of Akitsu and other members of the House of Five Leaves, Yaichi carries out the rescue plan, and they are successful. Otake's husband is free, and the government official behind his arrest is exposed. Yaichi ensures that the corrupt official is punished and tells Otake's husband that he can stay with the gang until he is ready to move on.
In the end, Yaichi reflects on the events of the day with Akitsu and praises him for his help. He says that he would not have been able to accomplish the rescue without Akitsu's investigative work. As they part ways for the evening, Yaichi tells Akitsu that he is now a trusted member of the gang and that they are counting on him to keep his nose to the grindstone.
Consider Yourself Fortunate is a turning point for Akitsu and his relationship with the House of Five Leaves. He once again proves his loyalty and willingness to go above and beyond for the gang's sake. Meanwhile, Yaichi's actions show his compassion and desire to use his skills for good. It is a heartwarming and exciting episode that keeps the audience engaged until the end.
