Ep 79. Comedy And Chaos In Phnom Penh, Cambodia
- September 8, 2016
In season 31 episode 79 of House Hunters International titled "Comedy And Chaos In Phnom Penh, Cambodia," viewers are taken on a journey with American comedian, Will Chamberlain, as he searches for a new home in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Will has been traveling to Cambodia for years to perform stand-up comedy and he has decided to make the move from Los Angeles to Phnom Penh to pursue his career full-time. The episode opens with Will touring a rustic, jungle-like house that he describes as looking like "Tarzan's house." The house is located outside of the city and while it is in a beautiful setting, it is a bit too rustic for Will's taste.
Will's real estate agent then takes him to a modern, high-rise apartment in the heart of the city. The apartment has a sleek, modern design and offers incredible views of the city. Will is impressed but isn't quite sold on the idea of living in a high-rise apartment and being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of downtown Phnom Penh.
Next, Will and his agent tour a mid-century modern house that is situated just outside of the city center. The house is open, airy, and has a great outdoor space with a pool. Will loves the retro feel of the house and the indoor-outdoor flow, but is concerned that it may be too far from the city center and the comedy clubs he performs at.
Finally, Will and his agent check out a colonial style house that has been completely renovated. The house has high ceilings, a spacious living area, and a beautiful outdoor space. Will is impressed with the house but is hesitant about the fact that it's located in a busy and chaotic part of the city.
Throughout the episode, Will is accompanied by his close friend and fellow comedian, Shyang Sopheap, who offers his comedic take on each of the houses they visit. The two friends have a great rapport and provide some lighthearted moments throughout the episode.
After viewing all of the properties, Will must make a tough decision about which house to choose. He ultimately chooses a mid-century modern house outside of the city center. The house offers the perfect balance of retro charm, outdoor space, and proximity to the comedy clubs.
Overall, this episode of House Hunters International offers viewers a unique glimpse into the world of stand-up comedy in Cambodia and showcases some of the incredible real estate opportunities available in Phnom Penh.
