House Hunters International Season 12 Episode 3

Ep 3. Evan and Maria-Isabel Set Out to a Find Home in Historic Granada, Nicaragua That is Both Relaxing, and Convenient to the Restaurant They Own

  • January 17, 2010

Evan and Maria-Isabel are a couple who own a successful restaurant in Nicaragua's capital city, Managua. While they enjoy running the restaurant, they want to move to the historic city of Granada, which is located on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. They hope to find a home that is both convenient and relaxing, as they want to continue running their restaurant from afar.

The couple begins their search for their dream home with the help of their real estate agent, Sergio. The first property they view is a two-bedroom colonial-style home, situated in the heart of Granada. The house has high ceilings, beautiful wooden doors, and a stunning courtyard with plenty of greenery. While the couple loves the charm of the house, they are not as thrilled with the rather small kitchen, which they believe will be a hindrance to their restaurant activities.

The second property they view is a three-bedroom property located a bit further away from the city center. The house is situated on a large plot of land and has a spacious backyard lined with fruit trees. The property also comes with a separate studio apartment that they hope can be converted into a rental property. While the couple loves the size of the kitchen, they worry that the distance from the city center might discourage customers from their restaurant.

The third property they view is a two-bedroom modern house in a gated community outside of Granada. The house has an open layout, a swimming pool, and stunning views of Lake Nicaragua. The couple is impressed with the beautiful finishes of the house, but worry that the modern design may not appeal to their customers, who prefer the traditional look.

The fourth and final property they view is a three-bedroom house located in Granada's oldest neighborhood, La Calzada. The house has been remodeled and features a beautiful courtyard, a guesthouse, and a rooftop terrace with views of the Mombacho Volcano. The couple loves the house's location, but worry that the constant noise from the busy street may not make it the peaceful retreat they are looking for.

After weighing the pros and cons of each property, Evan and Maria-Isabel make their final decision on their dream home in Granada. Nonetheless, they face several hurdles in renovating the house to suit their restaurant activities. After much hard work and determination, Evan and Maria-Isabel are ready to embark on their new journey in Granada and continue to run a successful restaurant while enjoying the beauty of Nicaragua's historic city.
