In season 2 episode 2 of Hotel Hell, host Gordon Ramsay heads to Longview, Washington to visit the Monticello Hotel. Despite its once-grand reputation, the hotel has fallen into disrepair and become known as a haven for drug use, prostitution, and other illicit activities.
Upon arrival, Ramsay is unimpressed with the hotel's shabby exterior and outdated decor. He meets with the hotel's owner, who seems clueless about the hotel's problems and resistant to Ramsay's criticisms. Ramsay also has a tense conversation with the hotel's chef, who is defensive about his cooking and dismissive of Ramsay's suggestions.
As Ramsay begins to investigate the hotel's issues, he discovers that many of the problems stem from the owner's mismanagement and lack of attention to detail. The staff is demoralized and overworked, and the hotel's cleanliness and safety standards are abysmal. Ramsay also uncovers evidence of illegal activities, including drug use and prostitution, which he brings to the attention of local law enforcement.
Over the course of the episode, Ramsay works with the hotel staff to clean and renovate the hotel, improving its aesthetics and making it a safer and happier place for employees and guests alike. Ramsay also helps the chef revamp the hotel's menu, introducing fresh, locally sourced ingredients and more contemporary dishes.
Despite some resistance from the hotel's owner, Ramsay ultimately succeeds in turning the Monticello Hotel into a much more pleasant, welcoming place. By the end of the episode, the hotel has become a source of pride for the community, and Ramsay leaves feeling satisfied that he has made a difference in the lives of the staff and guests.
