In this episode of Hot Ones, the popular YouTube series that interviews celebrities while challenging them to eat progressively hotter chicken wings, we welcome Seth Rogen and Dominic Cooper to the show. Rogen, best known for his work in the comedies Superbad and Pineapple Express, and Cooper, known for his roles in films such as Mamma Mia! and Captain America: The First Avenger, sit down with host Sean Evans to talk about their new AMC series Preacher, their personal connections to spicy food, and more.
As usual, the show starts with the guests trying the mildest wing on the table, a Sriracha-based sauce that Rogen describes as "not too bad." From there, however, things quickly heat up, as they are presented with increasingly spicier sauces that test their taste buds and ability to handle heat. Rogen, in particular, struggles with some of the hotter wings, admitting at one point that he might need to "tap out" early.
Throughout the show, Evans peppers the conversation with questions about the guests' careers, personal lives, and more. Rogen talks about his experience working with his childhood friend Evan Goldberg on movies like This Is The End and The Interview, while Cooper reflects on his time playing Jesse Custer on Preacher and his upcoming role in the film adaptation of the video game World of Warcraft. Both guests also share stories about their experiences with spicy food, with Rogen in particular recounting a time he accidentally ate a whole habanero pepper and had to deal with the consequences.
As the wings get hotter and hotter, the conversation shifts to the guests' opinions on various topical issues, such as their thoughts on the presidential race and the recent controversy surrounding Ghostbusters. Evans also asks them to play a game called "Explain That Gram," in which they have to give the backstory behind some of their Instagram photos, leading to some hilarious and revealing anecdotes.
As the episode reaches its fiery climax, Rogen and Cooper are presented with the final sauce on the table, a concoction so spicy that even Evans struggles to describe it. Despite their best efforts, both guests are left reeling from the heat, with Cooper at one point burying his face in a bowl of milk and Rogen exclaiming, "Oh my God, it's so hot." Nevertheless, they soldier through to the end, earning their places in the Hot Ones hall of fame alongside previous guests like Kevin Hart and Joji.
Overall, this episode of Hot Ones delivers the usual blend of humor, interviews, and culinary torture that viewers have come to expect from the show. Rogen and Cooper make for entertaining and engaging guests, while Evans proves once again that he is one of the most skilled interviewers in the game. Fans of spicy food, celebrity interviews, or just good old-fashioned comedy will definitely not want to miss this episode.
