Ep 7. Billie Eilish Freaks Out While Eating Spicy Wings
- March 7, 2019
In the seventh episode of the first season of Hot Ones, Grammy Award-winning artist Billie Eilish takes on the famous spicy wings challenge. As the show begins, host Sean Evans introduces Billie and explains to viewers the rules of the challenge - they will be eating 10 wings, each with its own progressively hotter hot sauce, and Sean will be asking a series of questions while they eat.
Before they even dive into the first wing, Billie expresses her nervousness about the heat levels she knows are coming. She tells Sean that she likes spicy food, but doesn't usually go for anything too hot. Sean reassures her that the sauces won't be too unbearable, but Billie remains skeptical.
As they begin to eat the first wing, it becomes clear that Billie's concerns were not unfounded. She immediately reacts to the heat, gasping and drinking water to try to cool her mouth down. Sean asks her about her career and the meaning behind some of her songs, but Billie struggles to focus on anything but the heat of the sauce.
As they move on to the second and third wings, the heat only intensifies. Billie becomes more and more animated as she tries to deal with the spice, flailing her arms and making faces to show her discomfort. Sean tries to keep the conversation going, asking Billie about her creative process and the impact of social media on her generation, but it's clear that the hot sauce is taking over the conversation.
By the time they get to the fifth and sixth wings, Billie is all but undone by the heat. She takes bigger bites than before and tries to power through, but each sauce seems to be hotter than the last. Sean asks her about her upbringing in a family of musicians, but Billie can barely speak through the heat.
As they near the end of the challenge, Billie is visibly sweating and shaking. Sean asks her about her experience at the Grammys and the inspiration behind her song "ocean eyes," but Billie can only manage short, breathless answers. When they finally finish the last wing, Sean congratulates Billie on making it through and asks her to rate the sauces from least to most spicy. Billie struggles to remember which sauce was which, but she settles on her rankings and breathes a sigh of relief that the challenge is over.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into Billie's personality and creative process. She talks about her love for Justin Bieber and Lorde, her inspiration for songs like "you should see me in a crown" and "bad guy," and her hopes for the future of her music career. But the real star of the show is the heat - watching Billie try to deal with the spiciness of the wings is both hilarious and impressive.
Overall, the seventh episode of Hot Ones is a must-watch for fans of Billie Eilish and anyone who enjoys watching people suffer through increasingly hot food. Sean and Billie have a great dynamic, and the questions are a mix of lighthearted and serious, making for a well-rounded and entertaining episode.
