Ep 3. Episode 3
Episode 3 of Hospital Playlist's first season is titled "Wing Chun." As the name suggests, this episode takes on a slightly different tone compared to the previous two, with some lighter moments and humor infused into the usual drama. The episode follows the doctors as they navigate their personal and professional lives.
The episode begins with a group meeting of the doctors where they discuss the deceased grandmother of one of their patients, and how difficult it can be to deal with the death of a loved one. As they discuss the subject of mortality, they are interrupted by a noisy patient, who's on the onset of the withdrawal. The doctor's race to save the day, and during the process, they adapt a bit of humor to lighten the mood.
Meanwhile, Song Hwa receives a surprise visit from her college friend, and the two take a walk down memory lane. Their conversation reveals some crucial information about Song Hwa, and how she dealt with a difficult birth and a high-risk surgery during her college days. Although the scene is poignant, it helps to understand Song Hwa's past and why she's so determined.
Elsewhere, Seok-Hyeong is beset with a familial crisis as he discovers some critical news about his family from his father. This news causes him to become quite irritable, and he lashes out at his colleagues, who try to calm him down.
Another major subplot of the episode revolves around Myung-Soo, a dentist and the group's songwriter, who is struggling to come up with a hit song for his upcoming concert. A visit to the dentist seems to provide Myung-Soo with the inspiration he needs, but his creative process is frequently sidetracked by various distractions, including his neighbors' noisy dog.
Finally, the episode ends with a cliffhanger as we see a new patient being rushed into the hospital's ER, and the doctor's racing against time to save their life.
Overall, episode 3 of Hospital Playlist is a solid continuation of the series, with some memorable scenes and witty one-liners. As always, the show balances humor and drama well, and the performances of the cast continue to be top-notch. While the episode doesn't cover any groundbreaking territory, it succeeds in moving the story forward while providing viewers with an enjoyable experience.
