#Hoops is a half-hour animated sitcom created by Ben Hoffman and produced by 20th Century Television for the streaming platform Netflix. It premiered on August 21, 2020, and consists of 10 episodes. The show follows the misadventures of a hot-headed high school basketball coach named Ben Hopkins (voiced by Jake Johnson) as he tries to lead his inept team to glory. Ben is a foul-mouthed, heavy-drinking, middle-aged man-child who constantly gets into trouble with his boss, Stony (voiced by Rob Riggle), and struggles to connect with his estranged wife, Shannon (voiced by Natasha Leggero). He also has a rocky relationship with his star player, Ron (voiced by Ron Funches), a lovable but lazy slacker who can't seem to get his act together.

Other characters include Ben's best friend, Matty (voiced by Will Sasso), a clueless stoner who works at a fast-food joint and is constantly getting Ben into trouble; his assistant coach, Drew (voiced by Cleo King), a no-nonsense woman who tries to keep Ben in line; and his boss's daughter, Holly (voiced by A.D. Miles), a socially awkward girl who has a crush on him.

The show is notable for its raunchy humor, which includes profanity, sexual references, and drug use. It also features some over-the-top basketball action sequences, as well as satirical jabs at the sports industry and American culture in general. The animation style is reminiscent of other adult-oriented cartoons like South Park and Archer, with exaggerated character designs and bold, colorful backgrounds.

One of the strengths of #Hoops is its voice cast, which features some of the most talented comedians working today. Jake Johnson is perfectly cast as Ben, bringing a manic energy and sarcastic wit to the character that makes him both hilarious and endearing. Ron Funches is also a standout as Ron, infusing the character with his trademark sweetness and optimism.

The show's writing is hit-or-miss, with some episodes featuring genuinely funny and clever satire, while others rely too heavily on shock value and gross-out humor. Some of the jokes are also repetitive, with Ben's constant swearing and insults wearing thin after a while. However, the show does a good job of balancing its comedic elements with more serious themes, such as Ben's struggles with addiction and his underlying feelings of inadequacy.

Overall, #Hoops is an entertaining if flawed addition to Netflix's growing lineup of animated sitcoms. It won't be for everyone, as its unapologetically crude humor and irreverent take on sports may turn off some viewers. However, for those who enjoy raunchy comedies and offbeat animation, it's definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared to hear a lot of bleeped-out expletives.

#Hoops is a series that ran for 1 seasons (20 episodes) between February 19, 2013 and on CineSport
