In Homecoming season 2 episode 3 titled "Previously," we see Audrey Temple (Hong Chau) grappling with the aftermath of her decision in the previous episode to betray her boss, Leonard (Chris Cooper), and work with Geist Group's rival company, Geist Emergent Group. As she carries out her new duties at Geist Emergent, Audrey begins to question whether she's made the right choice.
Meanwhile, we see Walter Cruz (Stephan James) trying to adjust to life outside the Homecoming program, which he participated in during season 1. He has now returned to his mother's house and is struggling to cope with his memories of the traumatic events he experienced while in the program.
As the episode progresses, we begin to see how the events of the first season are still affecting the characters in various ways. For Audrey, betraying Leonard was no easy decision, and we see her grappling with feelings of guilt and regret as she tries to move forward. Walter, on the other hand, is clearly still haunted by his time in the program, and it's clear that he hasn't fully come to terms with the trauma he experienced.
Throughout the episode, we're treated to beautifully shot scenes that showcase the excellent cinematography of the series. The use of light and shadow is particularly striking, with many scenes taking place either at night or in dimly lit interiors that add to the overall sense of unease and uncertainty that permeates the show.
As with previous episodes of Homecoming, the pacing of "Previously" is deliberate and measured, with each scene building slowly towards a final reveal that sheds new light on the events of the episode. And as always, the acting is top-notch, with Chau and James both turning in excellent performances that showcase their characters' inner turmoil and conflicted emotions.
Overall, "Previously" continues the strong run of episodes we've seen so far in season 2 of Homecoming. It's a thought-provoking, visually stunning episode that explores the aftermath of previous events in the show while continuing to build towards what promises to be an explosive conclusion.
