Ep 7. Let's Go To The Videotape

When Tim Taylor's boss at Tool Time, Al Borland, receives a letter from a man who claims he invented a new device that eliminates the need for a tape measure, Tim decides to investigate. With the help of his wife Jill, Tim sets out to meet the inventor and test out the device, which he believes could revolutionize the construction industry. But when they arrive at the inventor's home, things quickly take a bizarre turn.

The man, who goes by the name of 'Dr. Varn,' turns out to be a recluse who lives in a rundown house filled with all sorts of strange contraptions. Tim and Jill are initially skeptical of the device and of Dr. Varn himself, but when they see it in action, they're convinced it's the real deal. However, when they return home and try to show it off on Tool Time, things don't go according to plan.

As Tim and Al attempt to demonstrate the device, they soon realize that it's not as accurate as they'd hoped. The measurements are all over the place, and the device seems to be malfunctioning. Tim is embarrassed, and Al is angry that his reputation as a tool expert is being called into question. The two men argue on air, and the Tool Time crew scrambles to figure out what went wrong.

Meanwhile, back at home, Jill is dealing with her own issues. She's upset that Tim seems more interested in the gadget than in spending time with her and their kids. When Tim comes home, she tries to talk to him about it, but he's too preoccupied with figuring out what went wrong on the show. Frustrated, Jill decides to take matters into her own hands and confront Tim on set.

As Tim and Al continue to bicker, Jill storms onto the set, interrupting the show. She demands that Tim pay attention to his family and stop obsessing over the device. Tim, humbled by his wife's words, agrees to take a break from work and spend more time with his family. Al, impressed by their reconciliation, decides to join in on the family outing.

In the end, Tim and his family head out to the park, leaving the device and their work behind. As they play together in the sunshine, it's clear that Tim has learned an important lesson about the importance of balance in his life. And while the device may not have lived up to their expectations, the memories they create together as a family are priceless.
