In Home Improvement season 3 episode 15, titled "Reel Men," Tim Taylor, the host of the home improvement show "Tool Time," is invited to go on a fishing trip by his friend and co-worker, Al Borland. Despite not being a huge fan of fishing, Tim agrees to go and is excited to bond with Al outside of work.
However, when they arrive at the lake, Tim discovers that Al has invited their boss, Mr. Binford, and a potential sponsor for "Tool Time," a fishing equipment company. Tim's hopes for a relaxing trip are dashed as he feels pressure to impress the sponsor and secure a deal for the show.
To make matters worse, Tim is embarrassed by his lack of fishing skills and struggles to catch even a single fish. Meanwhile, Al and Mr. Binford are having a great time and catching fish left and right.
Feeling left out and frustrated, Tim decides to take matters into his own hands and "improve" his chances at catching fish by using power tools to create an elaborate fishing rig. Unsurprisingly, the plan backfires and Tim ends up causing chaos on the boat.
As the day comes to an end, Tim realizes that he had missed the point of the trip: to have fun and spend time with his friends. He apologizes for his behavior and admits that he doesn't know everything, despite being the host of a home improvement show.
"Reel Men" is a humorous and heartwarming episode that showcases the importance of friendship and humility. It also sheds light on the pressures of advertising and endorsements in the entertainment industry.
