Meanwhile, Frances Barden struggles with the loss of her husband and the financial difficulties she is facing. She seeks advice from an unlikely source and makes a decision that could have far-reaching consequences.
Laura Campbell becomes more involved in the war effort as she trains to become an auxiliary nurse, but her passion for helping others puts a strain on her marriage to Richard. As she witnesses the horrors of war firsthand, she begins to question her beliefs and her place in the world.
Elsewhere in the village, Pat and Miriam continue to bond over their shared experiences and form a plan to help others in need. Teresa Fenchurch deals with the repercussions of her affair and tries to make amends with her husband, while Sarah Collingbourne struggles to keep her spirits up despite the absence of her husband.
As the episode comes to a close, the residents of Great Paxford are forced to face their fears and confront the realities of war, both on the battlefield and on the home front. Will they be able to come together and support each other through the difficult times ahead? Only time will tell.
