Hogan's Heroes was a sitcom that aired from 1965 to 1971. The show was set in a prisoner of war camp during World War II and followed the antics of a group of Allied prisoners and their efforts to sabotage the Nazi war effort.

In season 1, episode 9, titled "Go Light on the Heavy Water," the focus is on a Nazi plan to build a heavy water plant. Heavy water is a necessary component in the production of nuclear weapons, and the Nazis are determined to create their own nuclear arsenal.

Colonel Hogan and his team of prisoners, however, are equally determined to stop the Nazi plot. In order to do so, they come up with a plan to infiltrate the heavy water plant and destroy it from within.

As with most episodes of Hogan's Heroes, the plan is fraught with comedic mishaps and misunderstandings. From disguising themselves as Gestapo officers to accidentally setting off alarms, the team runs into obstacle after obstacle as they try to carry out their mission.

Of course, in the end, Hogan and his team prevail, thwarting the Nazi plot and saving the day. But not before some laugh-out-loud moments and clever trickery on the part of the prisoners.

"Go Light on the Heavy Water" is a classic example of the lighthearted, humorous tone of Hogan's Heroes. While the subject matter of the show is serious – the horrors of war and the struggle to defeat a totalitarian regime – the show manages to find humor in unlikely places.

The cast of characters is a big part of what makes Hogan's Heroes so enjoyable. Colonel Hogan, played by Bob Crane, is the mastermind behind most of the prisoners' schemes. He's clever, charming, and always one step ahead of the Nazis.

Sergeant Schultz, played by John Banner, is the lovable German guard who is always looking the other way when Hogan and his team are up to something. His catchphrase – "I see nothing, I know nothing!" – is one of the most memorable aspects of the show.

Other memorable characters include Corporal Louis LeBeau (Robert Clary), who is known for his cooking skills and his ability to speak several languages; Sergeant Andrew Carter (Larry Hovis), the expert in explosives; and Kinchloe (Ivan Dixon), the radio operator who keeps the team in communication with the outside world.

Overall, "Go Light on the Heavy Water" is a fun and entertaining episode of Hogan's Heroes. While the show may not be the most historically accurate portrayal of World War II, it's a beloved classic that has stood the test of time. It's the perfect example of how humor can be found in even the darkest of times.
