Umaru and Christmas and New Year's is the eighth episode of the first season of the anime series Himouto! Umaru-chan. The series follows the life of Umaru Doma, a high school girl who turns into a lazy and bratty little sister at home while maintaining a perfect facade at school.

In this episode, Umaru is excited for the upcoming holidays. She starts off by convincing her brother Taihei to take her shopping for Christmas gifts and decorations. She tries to pick out some presents for her brother, but ends up finding something for herself instead. Taihei tries to teach her the true meaning of gift-giving, but Umaru doesn't seem to get it.

As Christmas approaches, Umaru's friends invite her to a party. She tries to come up with the perfect gift for her friend Sylphynford, but struggles to find something that fits her personality. She ends up getting her a cat-themed item but is disappointed when she sees that Sylphynford already owns a similar item.

On Christmas Eve, Umaru decides to spend the night with her brother rather than going to the party. She wakes him up in the middle of the night to open presents, but Taihei is too tired and tells her to go back to bed. Umaru is disappointed but falls asleep, only to wake up to find that Santa Claus has left her a bag of presents.

As the New Year approaches, Umaru and Taihei visit their hometown to celebrate with their family. Umaru is excited to see her grandparents, but is also nervous about seeing her old friends. She ends up having a great time reminiscing about old memories and catching up with her friends.

The episode ends with Umaru and Taihei returning to their apartment in the city. Umaru reflects on the past year and makes some New Year's resolutions, including to improve her grades and to be more considerate to her brother.

In Umaru and Christmas and New Year's, we see Umaru's excitement and enthusiasm for the holidays, as well as her struggles with gift-giving and understanding the true meaning of the season. The episode also highlights the importance of family, friendship, and reflection during the holiday season.
