Umaru and Summer Vacation is the fifth episode of the first season of the anime series, Himouto! Umaru-chan. The anime revolves around the life of a high school girl named Umaru Doma who transforms into a lazy otaku, homebody, and junk food fanatic when she is at home. The fifth episode of the series takes place during summer vacation and focuses on Umaru's antics during her break from school.
The episode begins with Umaru waking up on the first day of her summer vacation. She is filled with excitement as she plans out all the things she wants to do during her break. She imagines herself lazing around the house, playing video games, and indulging in her favorite snacks. However, her brother Taihei has other plans in mind. He informs Umaru that he needs to work during the summer and she should also think about doing something productive during her break. Umaru initially protests but eventually agrees to spend some time outside the house.
Later in the episode, Umaru joins her friends for a day out at an amusement park. She quickly becomes disinterested in the rides and attractions and decides to ditch her friends to go shopping for anime merchandise. She starts to spend all her money on merchandise and soon realizes that she has spent all her allowance for the month. Umaru becomes depressed and starts to regret her decision to spend all her money at the amusement park.
While walking around the city, Umaru comes across a summer festival. The festival is filled with food and games, and Umaru is quickly drawn to the various stalls. She decides to try her luck at one of the games and ends up winning a prize. The prize is a goldfish, and Umaru is elated. She takes the goldfish home and names it Taro. She becomes attached to Taro and spends all her time taking care of him.
The episode ends with Umaru reflecting on her summer vacation. She realizes that while she didn't accomplish much, she had fun spending time with her friends and taking care of Taro. She learns that it's okay to take a break and enjoy the little things in life.
Overall, Umaru and Summer Vacation is a lighthearted episode that highlights the importance of taking a break and enjoying the small things in life.
