In the fifteenth episode of Highway to Heaven season 1, titled "One Winged Angels," Jonathan and Mark are on a mission to help a group of small-town residents who are struggling to keep their airport open. The airport is a lifeline for the town because it connects them to the outside world, but the airport owner has died and left the airport in a state of disrepair. The townspeople are desperate to keep the airport open, but they need a miracle to make it happen.
As Jonathan and Mark arrive in town, they quickly realize that the situation is worse than they expected. The airport is barely functional, and there are no funds to make the necessary repairs. But as always, Jonathan has a plan. He decides to organize a fundraising event to raise money for the airport. However, it's not going to be easy since the town is skeptical of outsiders and not too keen to help.
Jonathan, with his charm and wit, manages to win the support of the townspeople, who agree to participate in the fundraiser. Meanwhile, Mark is busy trying to fix the physical issues of the airport. He enlists the help of Joe, a local boy with a fascination for airplanes and who happens to have a keen eye for detail.
As the day of the fundraiser approaches, Jonathan and Mark discover that they have an unexpected ally in the form of a wealthy widow named Sarah. She is moved by the plight of the town and donates a significant amount of money to the airport. However, Sarah's generosity is not well-received by her stepson, who has his own plans for her inheritance.
Meanwhile, tensions are brewing between Joe's parents, who are struggling to keep their marriage together. Joe's father is frustrated with his job and feels like a failure. His mother, on the other hand, doesn't understand why her husband can't be happy with what they have.
As the fundraiser gets underway, Jonathan and Mark are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the town. People come from far and wide to help the cause, and they manage to raise enough money to keep the airport open. However, the celebration is short-lived when Sarah's stepson tries to steal her money and disappears.
With Sarah's life on the line, Jonathan and Mark team up with Joe and his parents to track down the runaway stepson. Along the way, they discover that the stepson has a tragic past and that his actions were driven by fear.
As the episode comes to a close, the town celebrates the reopening of the airport, and Joe's parents reconcile. Jonathan and Mark bid farewell to the town, knowing that they've made a difference in the lives of the people they've encountered.
