Jonathan and Mark are sent on a special assignment to help a young girl named Lisa. Lisa has recently lost her parents and is now struggling to survive on the streets. After Lisa's parents died, she was left to live on her own as her only surviving relative, an aunt, refused to take her in. Lisa has been forced to beg for food and she is constantly in danger from the harsh realities of living on the streets.
Jonathan and Mark soon realize that Lisa is not alone on the streets. There are other children who have also been abandoned or who ran away from their homes. Together, these children form a makeshift community that is constantly in danger from both the police and criminals.
Jonathan and Mark try to help the children in any way they can. They give them food and clothes and try to find places for them to sleep. But their efforts are hampered by the fact that the children are suspicious of adults and are reluctant to trust them. It is only after Jonathan and Mark earn their trust that they discover the true reason why the children have left their homes. Each child has been abused or neglected in some way, and they have run away to escape the pain.
As they get to know the children better, Jonathan and Mark realize that they cannot solve all their problems by themselves. They need to find a way to get the community to recognize the plight of these children and provide them with the help they need.
They enlist the help of a local reporter, Mary. Mary is initially skeptical of their story, but after she sees the children for herself, she begins to see the truth of their situation. Together, Jonathan, Mark and Mary work to bring the plight of these children to the attention of the city's authorities.
As they work to help these children, Jonathan and Mark are reminded of the importance of helping those in need. They learn that sometimes, even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. They also learn that sometimes, despite their best efforts, they cannot solve all the problems of the world. They can only do what they can and hope that others will follow their example.
