Help Wanted: Angel is the tenth episode of season one of Highway to Heaven. The episode starts with Jonathan arriving in a small town, where he sees a sign for the local newspaper, The Desert Voice. Upon entering, he meets the publisher, Liz Matthews, who tells him that the paper is struggling and that she may have to close it down. Jonathan offers to help, and within a few days, he turns the paper around and its circulation starts to soar.
Liz becomes suspicious of how Jonathan was able to achieve such a feat and starts to investigate him. She discovers his true identity as an angel, and she becomes angry that he didn't tell her. Liz starts to feel like she has been manipulated by Jonathan and begins to feel betrayed.
Meanwhile, Liz's brother, Mike, is having a tough time finding a job. With a criminal record, he feels like he's hit a wall and can't get back on his feet. Jonathan sees Mike's struggle and decides to help. He enlists Mike's help in delivering newspapers and even convinces Liz to give him a chance to work for the paper.
As Mike starts to turn his life around and becomes a valuable asset to the newspaper, Liz starts to see Jonathan in a different light. She realizes that he truly cares about people and is only trying to help.
However, things take a turn for the worse when a local businessman offers to buy The Desert Voice and turn it into a tabloid. Liz is faced with a tough decision, make a lot of money and lose the integrity of the paper, or keep it as is and risk going bankrupt.
With Jonathan's help, Liz decides to keep the paper and fight against the businessman. They put out an issue exposing the truth about the businessman, and the community rallies behind them. The paper becomes more successful than ever, and Liz realizes that Jonathan really was an angel sent to help her.
Help Wanted: Angel is an uplifting episode that reminds us of the importance of second chances and having faith in oneself. It teaches us that even in our darkest moments, there is always someone out there who is willing to help us, and that no matter how hard things may seem, there is always hope.
