Ep 4. The Cross of St. Antoine

Duncan MacLeod is a member of a group known as the Immortals, a select few who cannot die, and in fact are destined to fight each other throughout the centuries until there is only one of them left. In this episode, MacLeod travels to Paris to attend the funeral of an old friend and fellow Immortal, Nicholas Ward. While there, he learns that Ward was murdered, and the killer is likely another Immortal.

MacLeod begins to investigate, using his knowledge of Immortal power and tactics to try and track down the killer. He soon meets a woman named Renee Delaney, a historian who is researching a relic known as the Cross of St. Antoine, a powerful artifact said to hold the secret to the immortality of the Immortals. Together, they begin to unravel the mystery of the Cross and its connection to Ward's death.

As MacLeod and Renee work to solve the case, they find themselves constantly under attack by other Immortals who are also after the Cross. They discover that the Cross is not just a religious artifact, but a powerful weapon that could tip the balance of power among the Immortals. MacLeod must use all of his skills and knowledge to keep himself and Renee alive while also uncovering the truth about Ward's death and the Cross of St. Antoine.

In addition to the action-packed plot, this episode explores the themes of love, loss, and friendship. MacLeod is deeply affected by Ward's death, and the loss of another Immortal reminds him of the fragility of his own life.
