Ep 3. The Revolutionary

The Revolutionary is the third episode of the third season of the popular sci-fi/fantasy series Highlanders. This action-packed episode revolves around Duncan MacLeod's encounter with a fellow immortal, who has a very different approach to life and death than Duncan's.

The episode begins with a flashback sequence to the late 18th century, where we see Duncan cross swords with the infamous revolutionary, Maximilien Robespierre. After the lecture, Duncan is approached by another immortal, a man named Gerard Kragen, who claims to have been one of Robespierre's closest allies during the Revolution. Kragen is convinced that the ideals of the Revolution are still relevant today, and that the current political system is corrupt and oppressive. He is on a mission to start a revolution of his own, and wants Duncan to join him in his cause.

At first, Duncan is intrigued by Kragen's idealism and passion for change. But as he learns more about Kragen's plans, he realizes that the other immortal has become a dangerous fanatic. Kragen is willing to use violence and even kill innocent people to achieve his goals, and he has no respect for the principle of nonviolence that Duncan holds dear.

As Duncan tries to reason with Kragen and stop him from going down a path of destruction, he is forced to confront his own beliefs about justice, freedom, and the nature of human society. The episode raises questions about whether violence can ever be justified in the pursuit of a noble cause, and whether change can truly be achieved through peaceful means alone.

The Revolutionary is a compelling exploration of the themes of revolution, power, and morality. The interactions between Duncan and Kragen are intense and thought-provoking, and the action sequences are choreographed and executed with skill and flair.
