Ep 1. I Just Don't Get This World

Yuri struggles with the concept of taking the lives of others, but she soon realizes that it's either kill or be killed in this world.

Towards the end of the episode, Yuri and Mayuko come across a group of survivors who have managed to band together and create a safe haven for themselves. The leader of this group, a young boy named Kuon, explains to Yuri that there is a way to escape the High-Rise World - by climbing to the top of the highest building.

The episode ends with Yuri and Mayuko joining Kuon's group and setting their sights on reaching the highest building and finding a way back to the real world.
