The episode "Speed Ball" is the fourth episode of the first season of the Canadian comedy television series "Hiccups." The show follows Millie Upton, a children's author with unpredictable hiccups, and her life as she navigates her career, personal life, and eccentric friends.

In "Speed Ball," Millie is struggling to come up with a story idea for her latest children's book. Her agent Stan suggests that she attend a charity speed dating event to get some inspiration. Initially hesitant, Millie agrees to go, but her nervousness and hiccups make for an awkward and unsuccessful night.

Meanwhile, Millie's friend Joyce, a self-proclaimed "paranormal investigator," is convinced that Millie's hiccups are the result of a paranormal phenomenon and sets out to prove it. She enlists the help of Millie's landlord, Taylor, and together they attempt to contact the spirit world to get answers.

Back at the speed dating event, Millie winds up in a heated argument with one of the organizers, a woman named Claire. The two clash over their different views on love and relationships, and Millie ends up storming out. However, the encounter ends up inspiring Millie's new book idea.

As Millie works on her book, Joyce becomes increasingly convinced that Millie's hiccups are caused by a ghost named "Mervin." She orchestrates a seance in Millie's apartment, but things quickly go awry when Joyce loses control of the situation. Chaos ensues, and Millie is forced to step in to calm everyone down.

Ultimately, Millie's new book is a success, and she realizes that sometimes inspiration can come from unexpected places. As for Joyce and Taylor, they may not have found any conclusive evidence of a ghost in Millie's apartment, but they're already planning their next paranormal investigation.

Overall, "Speed Ball" is a comedic and quirky episode that highlights the eccentricities of the show's characters. While the central plot revolves around Millie's writing struggles and the speed dating event, it's the side plot involving Joyce and Taylor's paranormal investigation that provides some of the episode's most memorable moments. Fans of the show will appreciate the humor and absurdity of it all, while newcomers will quickly be drawn into the world of "Hiccups."
