Hey Duggee is a British animated television series aimed at preschool children. The show stars a group of animal children who are members of the Squirrel Club, a club run by a big friendly dog named Duggee. In each episode, Duggee teaches the children a new skill or helps them earn a new badge for their uniform.
In season 4 episode 4, titled "The Egg Badge," the Squirrels are out on their morning walk when they come across a bird's nest with an egg in it. The egg is about to hatch, and the Squirrels are fascinated by the idea of seeing a baby bird come out.
Duggee suggests that they earn the Egg Badge by learning all about eggs and what animals lay them. The Squirrels are excited to begin their new adventure and eagerly set out to learn everything they can about eggs.
First, the Squirrels learn about the different types of eggs that animals lay. They are startled to learn that even some snakes lay eggs! They also learn about the importance of birds' nests and how they are built to protect the eggs and the chicks that hatch from them.
Next, Duggee sets up an egg-and-spoon race for the Squirrels to test their hand-eye coordination. However, the race proves to be more difficult than they thought, and they end up dropping their eggs. Duggee reminds them that practice makes perfect, and they set off to try again.
The Squirrels then learn about the importance of heat in incubating eggs. They learn that some animals, like turtles, bury their eggs in the sand where the sun can keep them warm, while others, like chickens, sit on their eggs to keep them warm. They even learn about the way some baby animals break out of their eggs, like chicks breaking out of their shells with their egg tooth.
Finally, the big day arrives, and the egg hatches! The Squirrels are overjoyed to see the baby bird emerge from its shell, and they take turns holding it and marveling at its soft feathers and tiny beak.
Duggee congratulates the Squirrels on earning their Egg Badge and reminds them that they've learned a lot about eggs and the animals that lay them. The Squirrels are proud of all they've accomplished and excited to show off their new badge on their uniforms.
In "The Egg Badge," the Squirrels learn about the different types of animal eggs and how they are incubated and hatched. They also learn about the importance of protecting birds' nests and how to improve their hand-eye coordination with an egg-and-spoon race. The episode reinforces the importance of learning and practicing new skills and encourages children to be curious about the natural world around them.
