Duggee is a loveable brown dog who runs a club for young children called the Squirrel Club. In season 1 episode 7, titled "The Jam Badge," the squirrels are excited to receive a visit from Duggee's friend, Betty the Jam Maker. Betty has brought along all kinds of delicious fruits, and the squirrels are eager to learn how to make jam.
At the start of the episode, Duggee welcomes Betty to the clubhouse, and the squirrels gather around to greet her. Betty is a kind and friendly woman with a passion for making jams and jellies. She shows the squirrels all the different fruits she has brought with her, including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and even some rhubarb. The squirrels are thrilled to see so many yummy fruits, and they can't wait to start making jam.
Betty explains the process of making jam to the squirrels, which involves cooking the fruit, adding sugar, and stirring it all together until it thickens. The squirrels listen carefully and ask lots of questions, eager to learn as much as they can. Then, they divide into teams and get to work.
The first team, comprised of Tag, Norrie, and Betty, starts by washing and chopping the fruit. They work together to cut up the berries and rhubarb, taking care to remove any leaves or stems. Betty is impressed with the squirrels' knife skills and their attention to detail.
Meanwhile, the second team, consisting of Happy, Roly, and Betty, begins cooking the fruit. They take turns stirring the pot and making sure the mixture doesn't burn. Betty guides them through the process, offering tips and tricks to help them get the perfect consistency.
As the cooking team works, the washing and chopping team begins measuring out the sugar. They carefully pour it into the pot, stirring it in a little at a time. Betty explains that adding sugar helps the jam to set, and the squirrels watch in amazement as the mixture starts to thicken.
With the jam almost ready, Duggee appears to check on their progress. He's delighted to see how well the squirrels are doing, and he encourages them to keep up the good work. They all work together to fill jars with the jam, carefully spooning it in and wiping the rims clean.
Finally, with jars filled and lids screwed on tight, the squirrels proudly show off their jars. Betty congratulates them on a job well done and tells them they have earned the Jam Badge. The squirrels are thrilled to receive their new badge and give Betty a big hug to thank her for teaching them such a valuable skill.
As the episode comes to a close, the squirrels sit down to enjoy some fresh bread and homemade jam. They are so proud of what they've accomplished, and they can't stop talking about how delicious it all tastes. Duggee looks on with a smile, knowing that he has helped his young friends learn something new and wonderful.
In conclusion, "The Jam Badge" is an episode filled with fun, learning, and delicious treats. The squirrels work together to make their own jam, guided by the expertise of Betty the Jam Maker. They learn about measuring, cooking, and teamwork, and they earn a new badge to show off their accomplishment. Overall, it's a heartwarming episode that teaches valuable lessons while highlighting the joys of cooking and eating delicious foods.
