In season 1 episode 1 of Hey Duggee, titled "The Drawing Badge," the beloved animated children's show introduces its audience to a group of energetic animal friends and their leader, the lovable dog Duggee. The show begins with Duggee preparing for an art class, excited to teach his friends how to draw and earn their drawing badges. Duggee is cheerful and upbeat as he greets each of his animal friends (a bunny, a chicken, a chipmunk, an octopus, and a rhino) and hands out drawing tools.
After a silly introduction and a quick explanation about how to hold a pencil, Duggee gives the animals instructions on what to draw. However, the friends quickly realize that drawing is not as easy as it seems. They struggle to draw basic shapes, lines, and even their own faces. As they make mistakes and become discouraged, Duggee reminds them that practice makes perfect and encourages them to keep trying.
Throughout the episode, each friend gets frustrated with their drawings and becomes discouraged, but Duggee's positive reinforcement and gentle guidance motivate them to keep drawing. Duggee even draws along with them, showing them that he too makes mistakes and that it is okay to do so.
The first task for the friends is to draw a cake, which doesn't go as planned for anyone. The bunny can't draw a circle, the chipmunk can't draw straight lines, and the rhino's cake ends up looking like a car. Even though their drawings did not turn out as expected, Duggee reminds them that they still deserve a badge for their efforts because they kept trying.
Next, Duggee tells the friends to draw a dinosaur, for which the chipmunk is more prepared. She draws an impressive and accurate dinosaur, much to the surprise of the other animals. However, her success is short-lived as she accidentally spills water on her drawing. Seeing her own work ruined causes the chipmunk to become upset, but she soon realizes that the accident provides her a perfect opportunity to create a new drawing.
After several attempts, all the friends are able to complete a drawing they are proud of and earn their drawing badges. Duggee's encouragement and positivity empower the animal friends to try again and again, even after several failed attempts. The episode ends with the animals proudly showing off their drawings to Duggee and each other, demonstrating that with patience and practice, they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
Overall, "The Drawing Badge" sets the groundwork for a heartwarming and entertaining show that inspires children to never give up and to keep trying, even if it takes several attempts to achieve their goals. The episode features clever humor, engaging characters, and a fantastic message that parents can appreciate and enjoy. Hey Duggee is an excellent choice for children of all ages, encouraging them to be creative, have fun and be persistent, no matter what life throws their way.
