Ted, the head wrangler on the Bar None Dude Ranch, is proud of his saddle- it's his most prized possession. But when he lends it to Melody, an attractive young woman visiting the ranch, to go on a ride, it goes missing. Ted is distraught- without his saddle, he can't do his job, and he's convinced that Melody stole it. The other members of the ranch staff aren't so sure, and suggest that perhaps Ted needs to loosen up a little and enjoy himself more. After all, he's been a bit of a stick in the mud lately, and they think it might be good for him to let loose and have some fun.
Melody is actually a detective, investigating a string of thefts in the area, and she's convinced that the person responsible for the crime might be working at the ranch. When she hears that Ted's saddle has gone missing, she sees an opportunity to get closer to the suspect- whoever stole the saddle could be the same person responsible for the robberies.
As tensions mount on the ranch, and Ted becomes increasingly convinced that Melody is the culprit, the rest of the staff tries to help him see that there might be another explanation. Danny, a young and mischievous wrangler, finds himself drawn to Melody and decides to help her in her investigation, whether she wants him to or not. And when Ted goes missing, everyone on the ranch has to band together to find him and his precious saddle, before it's too late.
In the end, the mystery is solved and the Bar None staff learns an important lesson about judging others too quickly. Ted even loosens up a little bit, and everyone has a good laugh. Hey Dude may be a show aimed at kids, but its engaging plots and lovable characters make it a hit with all ages. Ted's Saddle is a fun and entertaining episode that will keep you guessing until the very end!
