Hey Dude is an American sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon from 1989 to 1991. It followed the lives of a group of teenagers who worked at the Bar None Dude Ranch in Arizona. Season 1 episode 13, titled "Pain in the Neck" is a comedic episode that deals with the consequences of bad posture.
The episode begins with the staff of the Bar None Dude Ranch sitting in a circle. Melody, the head wrangler, is leading a stretching exercise to improve their posture. After the exercise, Ted, one of the ranch hands, complains of a pain in his neck. Melody suggests that he see a chiropractor and Ted reluctantly agrees.
At the chiropractor's office, Ted is nervous and skeptical about the treatment. The chiropractor, Dr. Tucker, is a friendly elderly man who puts Ted at ease. He explains that Ted's bad posture is causing a misalignment in his spine, which is causing the pain. Dr. Tucker manipulates Ted's neck and back, relieving his pain and restoring his alignment.
However, the treatment also causes Ted to hallucinate. He sees everyone he knows with distorted heads and faces. He becomes convinced that Dr. Tucker is an alien who is trying to steal his brain. Meanwhile, the rest of the staff is preparing for a dance competition against a rival ranch. Ted's hallucinations become a hindrance, causing him to mess up his dance moves.
Back at the ranch, Ted's condition worsens. He becomes convinced that he has developed telekinetic powers and uses them to move objects around the ranch. His friends are concerned about his behavior and decide to take him to a hospital. Excited about his powers, Ted resists and runs away.
Ted's friends chase him through the desert to a nearby ghost town where they find him on the roof of an old building. Ted is determined to use his telekinetic powers to defeat an invisible alien enemy. His friends try to snap him out of his delusion, but it's not until Dr. Tucker arrives and talks him down that Ted comes to his senses.
The episode ends with the dance competition. The Bar None staff perform a choreographed routine that impresses the judges and wins them the competition. Ted's friends are relieved that he's back to normal and Ted is grateful for their support.
