In the fourth episode of the second season of Hey Arnold!, titled "False Alarm/World Records", the viewers are taken on a journey through two very different storylines.

In the first half of the episode, titled "False Alarm", Arnold, Gerald, and Helga are hanging out at Gerald's house one evening when they hear a loud noise that they believe to be a burglar trying to break in. The trio takes it upon themselves to investigate the potential break-in, and they sneak around Gerald's house, trying to find the source of the noise.

After much stealthy sleuthing, they finally discover that the noise is actually coming from a very unexpected source: a mouse. Feeling a bit silly for their overreaction, Arnold, Gerald, and Helga try to catch the mouse so they can relocate it outside, but their plans are foiled time and time again.

While they're trying to catch the mouse, they accidentally set off the burglar alarm, and the entire neighborhood is instantly alerted to what they think is a real break-in. Chaos ensues, with the police showing up, neighbors peeking out of their windows, and the kids feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed by the situation they've created.

Ultimately, they do manage to catch the mouse and the police officer lets them off with a warning. The episode ends with Arnold, Gerald, and Helga all agreeing that they learned their lesson and that they won't be so quick to jump to conclusions in the future.

In the second half of the episode, "World Records", Arnold and his classmates become obsessed with the idea of setting world records. They eagerly flip through the Guinness Book of World Records, looking for a record that they can break, and they settle on the record for the longest time spent on a seesaw.

Arnold and his best friend Gerald are determined to break the record, and they spend hours and hours seesawing without stopping, even through rain and extreme weather conditions. As time goes on, the other kids in the neighborhood start to join in, hopping on the other end of the seesaw to give Arnold and Gerald a break.

Eventually, the kids realize that they've been seesawing for well over 24 hours, and they're convinced that they've broken the record. They call the Guinness Book of World Records to report their achievement, but they're told that they need a certified witness to prove that they've actually set the record.

Determined to make it happen, they go out into the neighborhood, trying to find someone who will act as a witness. They end up recruiting a grumpy old man who initially refuses to help, but eventually agrees after he sees how determined the kids are.

The old man does indeed act as a witness, and the kids are over the moon with excitement when they receive confirmation that they've officially broken the record. The episode ends with Arnold, Gerald, and their friends feeling accomplished and proud of their hard work and determination.
