Lucy and Joe Namath is the fifth episode of the fifth season of the American television sitcom Here's Lucy. The show aired on October 13, 1972, on CBS, and was directed by Coby Ruskin. Written by Dick Chevillat, the episode features Lucy Carter (played by Lucille Ball) and her two children Kim and Craig as they try to get Joe Namath to appear at a charity event.

The episode begins with Lucy telling her children that she has secured Namath's services for a charity event for the Hayden Youth Foundation. The foundation is run by the meddling Mrs. Hayden, who has never really liked Lucy and always tries to upstage her. The pressure is on for Lucy to take charge and make sure the event goes smoothly.

Later, Lucy and her friend Mary Jane are at a restaurant when they spot Namath. Lucy approaches Namath and tries to convince him to appear at the charity event. Namath is hesitant at first, but Lucy warns him that if he doesn't show up, the kids will be disappointed. Namath agrees to appear, but only on the condition that he can coach Lucy's son Craig's football team, the Rams.

Lucy agrees to Namath's request, but things soon spiral out of control when Namath's coaching methods clash with Lucy's. Namath pays more attention to Craig's friend, who he sees as a potential quarterback, than to Craig himself. This does not sit well with Craig, who feels like Namath is favoring his friend. On top of that, Mrs. Hayden's irksome nephew, Roger, is trying to sabotage the charity event by booking another celebrity, much to Lucy's annoyance.

The day of the charity event arrives, and Namath is nowhere to be found. Lucy's kids are getting increasingly restless, and the already chaotic situation is made worse by Mrs. Hayden's nephew. In a last ditch effort to save the day, Lucy decides to put on a show starring herself and her friends. She delivers a hilarious and heartwarming performance that brings the crowd to their feet. Just as Lucy wraps up her performance, Namath shows up, having been delayed at the last minute.

Namath apologizes to Lucy for his delay and offers to pay her $500 for the inconvenience caused. Lucy, however, is having none of it and demands that he coaches her son's football team instead. Namath agrees, and in a touching moment, offers to give Craig a one on one lesson in football.

In the end, Lucy and her family managed to overcome all the hurdles thrown at them and put on a successful charity event. Lucy's resilience and determination turn what could have been a disaster into a heartwarming success, and everyone is left feeling uplifted and satisfied.

Lucy and Joe Namath is a classic episode of Here's Lucy, showcasing Lucille Ball's comedic talents and highlighting the importance of determination and perseverance. The episode's themes of community, friendship, and family make it a timeless classic that is sure to leave viewers feeling both entertained and inspired.
