The episode begins with Lucy (played by the legendary Lucille Ball) receiving a surprising phone call from an old friend who invites her to take a relaxing Hawaiian vacation. But as always with Lucy, things don't go according to plan.
After arriving in Hawaii, Lucy discovers that her room at the luxurious hotel overlooks a construction site. Despite her disappointment, Lucy decides to make the best of her situation and sets out to enjoy the sights and sounds of the island. Along the way, she meets a charming tour guide named John (played by Adam West) who offers to show her around and keep her company.
As Lucy and John explore the island, they stumble upon a beautiful beach and decide to take a refreshing swim. But when Lucy's swimsuit gets caught on a rock, she finds herself stranded in the water. John comes to her rescue, but when he helps her back to shore, they realize that Lucy's swimsuit has been completely torn off.
To make matters worse, Lucy discovers that her luggage has been lost in transit, leaving her with only the clothes on her back. Determined not to let this ruin her vacation, Lucy sets out to find something to wear. But every store she visits seems to be closed or sold out of clothing.
Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Lucy's friend Kim (played by Ann Morgan Guilbert) is having her own vacation problems. Her husband Harry (played by Gale Gordon) has become obsessed with surfing and spends all his time on the beach, leaving Kim feeling neglected and frustrated.
As the episode comes to a close, Lucy's luck begins to change. She finally finds a store that is open and buys a beautiful Hawaiian dress to wear.
