Hercules: The Animated Series season 1 episode 26 is titled Hercules and the Prometheus Affair. In this episode, Hercules and Icarus are tasked with guarding the mountain where Prometheus' liver is being eaten by an eagle daily as punishment for stealing fire from the gods and giving it to humans. When Hercules learns that Zeus plans to rescue Prometheus, he and Icarus decide to take matters into their own hands and try to free the Titan themselves.
As they make their way up the mountain, they encounter various obstacles including a group of centaurs who are loyal to Zeus and a herd of wild bulls. However, with the help of their quick thinking and strength, they are able to overcome each challenge and make it to the top of the mountain.
Once they reach Prometheus, they discover that he is willing to sacrifice himself in order to save humanity from Zeus' wrath. Hercules is moved by Prometheus' selflessness and tries to come up with another plan to save them both.
Meanwhile, Hades has sent his minions Pain and Panic to cause chaos on Mount Olympus. They steal Hera's special lightning bolts and wreak havoc on the gods and their palace. As a result, Zeus is unable to leave and help rescue Prometheus.
Just as it seems like all hope is lost, Hercules devises a risky plan to steal Zeus' thunderbolt and use it to free Prometheus. The plan goes awry and they are faced with even more obstacles, but they persevere and ultimately succeed in freeing Prometheus and escaping from the mountain.
As the episode comes to a close, Hercules and Icarus are hailed as heroes for their bravery and ingenuity. Zeus is grateful to them for saving Prometheus and decides to lessen his punishment by having the eagle only eat a small part of his liver each day.
