Heidi, a young orphan girl, has now been living with her grandfather in the Swiss Alps for a few weeks. The bond between them has grown stronger, and they have now adjusted to a new routine. Heidi has also made some new friends in the village, including a goat named Chippy.
One day, while playing with Chippy, Heidi notices that the goat is not eating and seems to be in pain. She immediately seeks help from her grandfather, who identifies that Chippy has swallowed a piece of cloth which is causing her discomfort. Since the cloth is too deep inside the goat's throat, they decide to seek help from Doctor Classen, the village doctor.
Doctor Classen examines Chippy and confirms that she needs surgery to remove the cloth. However, the surgery is expensive, and Heidi's grandfather cannot afford it. On top of that, Chippy's owner shows no interest in helping the goat, claiming that she is too old and not worth the expense.
Heidi cannot accept this and decides to take matters into her own hands. She puts her creative mind and kind heart to work and comes up with a plan to raise the money needed for Chippy's surgery. She seeks the help of her new friends: Peter, a goatherd, and Clara, a wheelchair-bound girl who lives in the city during the winter months. Together, they come up with a plan to sell handicrafts and goat cheese in the village to raise the money.
Despite initial setbacks and rejections from some villagers, their hard work pays off as they sell all their handicrafts and cheese for a considerable sum of money. They are delighted and grateful to the villagers who supported them.
However, just as they are about to hand over the money to Doctor Classen for the surgery, they are faced with another challenge. Chippy's owner threatens to take the money and run away before the surgery takes place. He claims that the goat is his property, and he has the right to do what he wants with her.
Heidi and her friends are heartbroken, but they still don't give up. They come up with another plan to ensure that the money reaches Doctor Classen and Chippy gets the surgery she needs. This involves a dangerous journey up the mountain to meet with Chippy's owner. They bravely embark on this journey and face many obstacles, including harsh weather conditions and an unexpected encounter with a wild animal.
In the end, their hard work pays off, and they manage to reach the owner and convince him to hand over the goat. They deliver the money to Doctor Classen, and Chippy undergoes successful surgery.
The episode ends on a heartwarming note as Heidi and her friends celebrate the success of their mission. They are grateful for the kindness and support of the villagers and proud of their determination to help a helpless animal. The episode reinforces the themes of kindness, compassion, and perseverance and leaves the viewers feeling hopeful and inspired.
