As the second episode in season 7 of Heartland, "Living In The Moment" follows the continued growth and healing of the Bartlett family and their ranch. The episode focuses on Lou's excitement at the prospect of building a new home on the property. However, her husband, Peter, expresses his reservations about making such a big financial commitment, given the possibility of his job taking him away from the area.
Meanwhile, Amy struggles with the dilemma of having multiple horses in need of her attention, including a new horse named Apollo who has trouble with trust and fear due to previous mistreatment. Also on the ranch, Ty is tasked with rehabilitating a racehorse, which proves to be a challenge as the horse is not responding as expected to the training.
As everyone on the ranch navigates their own struggles, they must also come together to face a serious threat: a wildfire. The entire family scrambles to evacuate their home and the animals from the path of the blaze, but not without a cost. Lives are put at risk, and the family is left with the difficult task of repairing the damage caused by the natural disaster.
"Living In The Moment" showcases the importance of family, finding balance in life, and the strength required to overcome unexpected obstacles. Viewers are left rooting for the Bartlett family as they work to rebuild and grow in the face of adversity.
