The Heartland season 7 episode 17, entitled "On The Line," follows the ups and downs of the Fleming family and the challenges they face on the Heartland ranch. The episode opens with Ty, played by Graham Wardle, coming home to Heartland after his long trek across Canada. He's greeted by his friends and family on the ranch and feels the warmth of home once again.
However, Ty is surprised by how much has changed since he left Heartland. His wife, Amy, played by Amber Marshall, has been running a makeshift veterinary office from the ranch, and has helped a lot of animals in need. However, this has taken a toll on Amy, and she's struggling to balance her work and personal life.
When one of the horses in her care falls seriously ill, it forces Amy to take a hard look at her priorities. She wants to save the horse but doesn't know if she can handle the added stress and physical demands of caring for it. The situation forces Amy to make a decision: either continue running her makeshift veterinary clinic, or focus on her own family and the ranch.
As Amy is trying to figure out what to do about the horse, her sister Lou, played by Michelle Morgan, is dealing with its owner, a wealthy man named Mr. Hanley. Lou is trying to convince Mr. Hanley to donate money to the Heartland Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps struggling farmers and ranchers. Mr. Hanley is hesitant to donate, but Lou doesn't give up.
Meanwhile, Mallory, played by Jessica Amlee, is busy auditioning for a big acting gig in Los Angeles. She's excited about the opportunity but worried about leaving her family behind. The episode follows her as she tries to balance her dreams and her responsibilities to those she loves.
As the episode progresses, tensions rise between Amy and Ty as they both struggle to balance their passions and responsibilities. Ty is focused on his training for a dangerous rodeo event, but Amy feels he's neglecting his family duties. They argue but eventually find a way to support each other's ambitions while staying true to their priorities.
The episode ends with a heartwarming scene where Amy and Ty finally find a way to save the sick horse. They work together to heal the animal, and in doing so, they learn to prioritize what's important in their lives. Mallory also gets the call that she's won the acting gig, but she decides to turn it down and stay at Heartland, realizing that her family and the ranch are more important to her than fame and fortune.
Overall, "On The Line" is a touching episode that explores the different challenges and struggles faced by the characters of Heartland. The episode highlights the importance of family, friendship, and loyalty, and shows how these values can be tested in difficult times.
