Ep 13. The Road Home

Amy, Lou, and Jack are back home from their trip where they went to retrieve Painter. Meanwhile, Ty is out on a cattle drive with Caleb and Jared. Ty is still holding a grudge against Caleb due to their previous interaction. Caleb does not take Ty's grudge seriously. While on the drive, they come across some dangerous terrain that they must cross. Ty receives a phone call from Amy, and they have a heart-to-heart conversation.

Meanwhile, back at Heartland, Mallory is preparing to go away to college in one week and is very stressed out about it. Georgie is trying to raise money to buy Adam back after he was sold by his owner. Georgie, with Lou's help, talks to a wealthy horse owner who could potentially buy Adam back and wants to see him perform before making a decision. Jack tries to teach Mallory to drive, but Mallory is having a difficult time.

In Toronto, Tim is trying to get his business back off the ground, but he is struggling because he cannot come up with any ideas. He is also feeling disheartened because Miranda is not paying any attention to him. Tim meets an old friend who gives him some advice, and Tim's business gets a new lease on life.

Later on, Ty and Caleb finally settle their differences. Caleb mentions that he is engaged, and Ty is taken aback because he did not know that Caleb had a girlfriend. Ty opens up about his relationship with Amy, and Caleb gives him some advice. Ty is not sure what to do about his relationship with Amy, and he is afraid that he may lose her.

Amy is trying to deal with the sudden onset of her mother's sickness and feels helpless. Ty tells her that he and Caleb have finished the cattle drive and that he will be home soon. Caleb also mentions to Ty about how Amy has been acting, which puts him on the defensive. Ty tells him to mind his own business.

Lou, Jack, and Georgie are talking about Adam. Lou mentions that she will do everything in her power to keep him at Heartland, even if it means paying for him herself. Mallory tells everyone that she failed her driver's test, which prompts Jack to take her to practice.

At the horse show, Adam performs well, but the wealthy owner does not buy him back. Georgie is crushed but still vows to find a way to get Adam back. Back at Heartland, Ty surprises Amy by showing up and giving her a much-needed hug. Ty tells Amy that he loves her and that Caleb is just a jealous jerk. Amy is happy to have Ty home and tells him everything that has been happening while he was gone.
