After 12 successful seasons, Heartland is back with its thirteenth season, which premiered on September 22, 2019, and has already aired 7 episodes. Episode 8 is named 'Legacy' and revolves around Amy's relationship with a new horse.
Heartland is a Canadian family drama television series that premiered on CBC Television on October 14, 2007. The show follows the lives of a family named Fleming-Trewin, who live in the fictional town of Hudson, Alberta, and run a farm called Heartland. The show is based on the book series of the same name written by Lauren Brooke.
Throughout the show, we have seen the ups and downs of Amy Fleming's life. She is the main character of the show and a talented horse whisperer, who can work miracles with the troubled horses. The previous episode of season 13 left us on a cliffhanger, with a new horse introduced to Amy- an untrained horse owned by Lisa's cousin. In episode 8, we get to see more of how Amy's relationship with the horse evolves.
The episode starts with Amy and Ty working together to train the new horse, while Jack and Lisa are away. Meanwhile, Tim is busy with the release of his new book, which is based on Jack's life. However, the book doesn't go down well with everyone, especially Georgie, who is not happy with how her story is portrayed in the book.
As Amy continues to work with the new horse, she faces challenges, including a stubborn mare and a rival trainer, who wants to buy the horse. Amy realizes that she needs to win the horse's trust and that it's not just about training her, but also about creating a strong relationship with her.
In the meantime, Georgie tries to talk to Tim about her issue with the book, but Tim doesn't take her seriously. This leads to a heated argument between the two, which eventually leads to Tim hiring a new ghostwriter to rewrite the book. This decision doesn't sit well with Jack, who feels that his story is being taken away from him.
As Amy continues to work with the horse, we get to see flashbacks of her childhood, where we see a young Amy with her mother, who was also a horse whisperer. The flashbacks give us insight into Amy's upbringing and how her mother influenced her love for horses.
Later in the episode, Tim and Jack have a heart to heart conversation about the book, where Tim explains why he felt the need to rewrite it. The conversation ends with Jack agreeing to let him go ahead with the new version of the book.
Finally, we see Amy working with the new horse, and after a lot of hard work and patience, she succeeds in winning the horse's trust. The episode ends on a heartwarming note with Amy riding the new horse along with her beloved horse, Spartan.
Overall, 'Legacy' is a great episode of Heartland that maintains the show's high standard of excellent writing, emotive performances, and breathtaking cinematography. It showcases the struggles and triumphs of Amy's life and continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences worldwide.
