Heart of the World: Colorado's National Parks is a stunning new documentary series that takes viewers on a journey through some of America's most beautiful and awe-inspiring landscapes. In season 1, episode 1, titled "Wonder," we are introduced to the breathtaking scenery and unique flora and fauna of Colorado's seven national parks.

As the episode begins, we are introduced to the Rocky Mountains, where towering peaks rise up to touch the sky. This rugged landscape is home to Rocky Mountain National Park, where visitors can explore miles of trails and witness stunning vistas of snow-capped mountains, wildflower-filled meadows, and crystal-clear streams.

Next, we are taken to Great Sand Dunes National Park, where massive dunes of golden sand stretch out for miles. Here, we learn about the unique geology and ecology of the park, including the fascinating way in which the wind shapes the dunes and how the plants and animals that call this harsh landscape home have adapted to survive.

Moving on, we visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, where we are treated to stunning views of one of the deepest and narrowest canyons in the United States. We learn about the history of the park, including the Native American tribes who lived in the area for thousands of years, and the intrepid explorers who first ventured into the canyon's depths.

In Mesa Verde National Park, we are transported back in time to the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people, who built incredible cliff dwellings in the sandstone cliffs of the park. These well-preserved structures offer a window into the past and allow us to imagine what life may have been like for these ancient people.

As we continue our journey, we visit Great Sand Dunes National Preserve, where we discover the important role that sand dunes play in the ecosystem, including the way in which they help to filter and purify water. We also learn about the unique plant and animal species that thrive in this harsh environment.

Our final destination is the stunning wilderness of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, where we witness the awe-inspiring majesty of the towering Maroon Bells, one of the most photographed mountain ranges in the world. We also learn about the important conservation efforts underway in the park to protect this fragile ecosystem for future generations.
