The family's problems are further compounded by the actions of their prodigal son, Hui Man-Keung (played by Bosco Wong), who has a gambling addiction.

The Yu family, which owns a shipping company, is also going through a rough patch, thanks to the patriarch, Yu Chi-Ming (played by Lee Kwok Lun), who is having an affair with his secretary. His wife, So Ying-Chau (played by Lee Sze Kei), is aware of his infidelity but chooses to keep quiet for the sake of their family's reputation.

As the show progresses, the families' stories become increasingly intertwined, and the characters face a range of challenges and obstacles in their personal and professional lives. Heart of Greed offers a window into the intricacies of family life in Hong Kong, with its complex relationships, power struggles, and betrayals.
