When he arrives, Paladin discovers that the town is run by a corrupt sheriff who has a personal vendetta against Paladin. The sheriff warns Paladin to stay out of his way and not interfere with the justice system in Red Rock. However, Paladin is determined to help the woman and her brother and starts digging into the case.
As Paladin begins to investigate, he discovers that the judge who tried the case was pressured by the sheriff into convicting the woman's brother. Looking deeper, Paladin learns that the sheriff is actually responsible for the crime and set up the woman's brother to take the fall.
Paladin confronts the sheriff and the two engage in a tense showdown. In the end, justice is served and the woman's brother is exonerated of all charges. Paladin leaves Red Rock victorious, but not without warning the corrupt sheriff that he will be watching him closely from now on.
