The New Arnold's is the eighteenth episode of the seventh season of the popular American sitcom, Happy Days. This show was created by Garry Marshall and featured a cast of talented actors including Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Don Most, Anson Williams, and Marion Ross. It was set in the mid-1950s and centered around the lives of a group of high school students and their families.
The New Arnold's follows the story of how Arnold's Drive-In, a popular hangout spot for Richie, Potsie, and the rest of the gang, is sold to a new owner who has different plans for the place. The new owner, named Bobby Johnson, is an ambitious businessman who wants to turn Arnold's into a family restaurant.
Richie and his friends are devastated by the news of the sale. For them, Arnold's is more than just a restaurant, it's a place where they can hang out and be themselves. They decide to investigate the new owner and find out what his plans are for Arnold's.
Meanwhile, Howard is going through a mid-life crisis. He's been feeling old and unfulfilled lately and wants to do something daring to prove that he's not over the hill. He decides to buy a motorcycle and join a biker gang, much to the dismay of his wife, Marion.
As the story unfolds, we see how Richie and his friends try to sabotage Bobby's plans for Arnold's. They come up with a plan to make Bobby believe that the restaurant is haunted, hoping that he'll back out of the sale. Their elaborate plan involves costumes, fake ghosts, and a lot of sneaking around.
At the same time, we see Howard struggling with his new identity as a biker. He's not as young or cool as he used to be and he's finding it harder and harder to keep up with the other bikers. Marion is worried about his safety and tries to convince him to give up the dangerous hobby.
In the end, everything comes to a head when Bobby discovers the truth about the fake ghosts. He's angry and hurt that Richie and his friends would try to trick him. However, he also realizes that the kids care deeply about Arnold's and he decides to compromise. He agrees to keep some of the old traditions of the restaurant alive while still implementing some of his new ideas.
Meanwhile, Howard ends up crashing his motorcycle and realizing that he's not as invincible as he thought he was. He admits to Marion that he made a mistake and promises to sell the motorcycle and be more responsible.
The episode ends with Richie and his friends enjoying a meal at the "New Arnold's", happy that they were able to preserve some of the old charm of the place while still moving forward. They toast to the future and to the memories they'll always cherish of their beloved hangout spot.
