Miley is stressed out after Hannah Montana is invited to play in an upcoming charity basketball game. She's afraid she'll embarrass herself in front of the crowd because she never learned how to play basketball. She could always decline, but she refuses to let down her fans. Jackson finds some free time to help Miley practice, but they quickly find out they have different ideas on how to do it.
Meanwhile, Lily and Oliver are fighting over a raccoon hat they both want to wear to the game. They refuse to share it, forcing the rest of their friends to pick sides and make things even worse. Lilly and Oliver are soon taking their fight to the extreme, and their behavior begins to affect the whole group. Jackson doesn't want to practice with Miley because he's caught between the two friends and their arguments, Robbie starts to lose his patience with their bickering, and Miley's stress level goes through the roof.
With the help of her father, Miley finally comes up with a plan to get everyone to stop fighting. He suggests that they talk to Hannah Montana herself and ask her for advice. She obliges and tells them a story about how, at one point in her own life, she had two friends who were also fighting over something trivial. Hannah told them that they were all friends, so instead of fighting, they went out and got ice cream together. That small gesture of goodwill ended their fight, and they became great friends once again.
Motivated by Hannah's words, the group decides to follow her advice and go out for ice cream together. It isn't until that moment when they're all sharing a cone that they realize just how silly their fight was. They all apologize to each other and promise to never let such a simple thing like a raccoon hat cause trouble again.
At the end of the episode, Hannah Montana shocks everyone with her skills on the basketball court and even gets to meet her favorite charity, a group of homeless children. She realizes that it was the power of friendship that pushed her through and helped her perform at her best. She thanks her friends for their support and is happy to say that she not only learned a lesson about basketball but also a valuable lesson about their bond as friends.
