After the shocking revelation from last week's episode, "Telling Me Your Dreams," when Judge Pernell Harris's (Ron Perlman) son Paul (Johnny Ferro) woke up from his coma and began talking about his attempted suicide, episode three of Hand of God, titled "Contemplating the Body," delves deeper into the events surrounding the tragic incident.
As Pernell continues his quest to find out the truth about who attacked his son, he turns to his daughter-in-law, Jocelyn (Alona Tal), for help. With her position as a nurse at the hospital, Jocelyn has access to confidential information that could prove useful in uncovering the mystery.
Meanwhile, Pernell is struggling with both his physical and mental health. The Judge has been hallucinating and hearing voices ever since his own suicide attempt and is now taking drugs to cope with these visions. He is also trying to repair his relationship with his wife, Crystal (Dana Delany), who has distanced herself from him ever since his breakdown.
As the investigation heats up, Pernell and Jocelyn stumble upon some disturbing information about the events leading up to Paul's suicide attempt. They soon realize that there may be more to the story than they initially thought, and that someone close to them may be involved.
In the midst of all this, Pernell is also dealing with his daughter-in-law's pregnancy. He has mixed feelings about the baby and is struggling to come to terms with the fact that he will soon be a grandfather.
The episode culminates in a tense confrontation between Pernell and a suspect in the case. As Pernell begins to unravel the truth, he realizes that the situation is far more complicated than he could have ever imagined.
Overall, episode three of Hand of God continues to explore the themes of mental health, family, and morality that have been present since the show's beginning. With each episode, the plot thickens, and the characters become more complex, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the next installment.
