Three teenage girls, Emma, Cleo, and Rikki, stumble upon an underwater cave while exploring a deserted island. After getting stranded on the island overnight, the girls decide to investigate the cave and are suddenly engulfed in a bright light. Unbeknownst to them, they have just encountered an ancient magic that will forever change their lives. The following day, the girls begin experiencing inexplicable changes - they are developing strange new powers, including the ability to control water. Emma, Cleo, and Rikki struggle to keep their newfound abilities a secret while also learning how to harness and control them. The girls' lives become more complicated as they try to navigate teenage drama, school, and their families while keeping their powers a secret. Meanwhile, Emma's longtime friend, Lewis, becomes suspicious of the girls' strange behavior and sets out on a mission to uncover the truth. As the season progresses, the girls face many challenges and obstacles - from facing off against a conniving classmate to learning the truth about their powers' origin.
