In Gunsmoke season 9 episode 7, titled “Quint’s Trail,” Marshal Matt Dillon (played by James Arness) and his deputy, Festus Haggen (played by Ken Curtis), are on the hunt for a dangerous criminal named Quint Asper (played by Burt Reynolds).
Quint, who used to work as a cattle hand on a nearby ranch, has been on a killing spree in the area and is wanted for several murders. Matt and Festus are determined to bring him to justice and track him down to a remote cabin in the hills.
There, they discover that Quint is not alone - he has a young woman named Jennifer (played by Marlyn Mason) with him. Jennifer claims to be in love with Quint and insists that he is not the ruthless killer everyone believes him to be.
