Ep 30. Renegade White

In Gunsmoke season 4 episode 30, titled "Renegade White," Matt Dillon and his team are summoned to deal with the troublesome matter of a Cheyenne warrior named Renegade White who has abandoned his own people to the point that he now acts as a paid killer for the evil and unscrupulous merchant, Lee Grayson.

Because Renegade White has turned his back on his own people and has joined forces with someone who is trying to exploit both the government and the Cheyenne's land, his former tribe now wants him dead, and they have already sent a delegate to offer cash payment to anyone who can successfully kill him.

Matt Dillon is faced with the daunting task of not only apprehending Renegade White before anyone else can do him in, but also of keeping him alive until he can be tried and, if found guilty, hung for his crimes against the Cheyenne people.

Meanwhile, Lee Grayson has sent his own men to hunt and euthanize Renegade White for realizing that he cannot be trusted now that he has teamed up with Matt Dillon.

The tension between Matt Dillon and Lee Grayson continues as they are both vying for control over Renegade White's fate, and Dillon must strategize on how to keep him alive while also protecting himself and his team from the ever-escalating violence that has occurred due to Renegade White's actions.

All the while, Renegade White has come to a realization of his own - that he's fighting the wrong side of this conflict and that his alliances with Lee Grayson have only brought trouble and tragedy to his people. He eventually finds himself torn between what he knows is right and his desire to protect himself from being killed by his former tribe.

As Matt Dillon and his team race against the clock to bring Renegade White back to Dodge City to face justice, they must deal with ambushes, close calls, and encounters with the increasingly treacherous Lee Grayson and his associates.

"Renegade White" is a thrilling and dramatic episode of Gunsmoke that explores themes of redemption, loyalty, and betrayal. The episode features an excellent showcase of the talents of James Arness as Matt Dillon and is a must-watch for fans of the classic western genre.
