It's the dead of winter in Dodge City and a blizzard has hit the town. Matt Dillon, the Marshal of the town, is out on patrol trying to keep his eyes out for any potential trouble when he spots a figure lying in the snow. The figure turns out to be a badly injured woman who has been attacked and left for dead. Matt decides to take her to Doc Adams, the town doctor, but soon realizes that this isn't going to be an easy task.
The blizzard has made traveling treacherous, and Matt is soon forced to take refuge in an abandoned cabin with the injured woman. He builds a fire and does his best to tend to her injuries, but as the night wears on, he realizes that he's not the only one seeking refuge from the storm. A group of outlaws also happens upon the cabin and, despite Matt's attempts to keep them out, they force their way in.
What follows is a long and tense night as Matt tries to protect the injured woman from the outlaws. He's outnumbered and outgunned, and the outlaws seem intent on causing as much chaos and destruction as possible. As the night wears on and the storm rages outside, Matt is forced to make some tough decisions in order to protect himself and the woman he's trying to help.
Meanwhile, back in Dodge City, Matt's friends and colleagues are growing increasingly worried about his whereabouts. They know that he's out there in the storm somewhere and that he's in danger, but they're powerless to help him. It's up to Matt to protect himself and the woman he's trying to help, and he's determined to see it through to the end.
