The 19-year-old Prateek Malhotra, a student at Delhi Technology Institute, brutally stabs a cab driver to death. Despite it being an "open-and-shut" case, Kashaf accepts it so as to ensure that Prateek gets an unbiased hearing. LN Khanna's 24-year-old granddaughter, Shubhangi Khanna, returns after graduating with an LL.M. from Harvard and joins KKA as Deepak's assistant, a decision that her cousin Shubhrat opposes. Shubhangi is attracted to Deepak from the very first meeting. Meanwhile, after a strange incident at Kitu's bar, Deepak tries to mend his relationship with Kashaf.
