Mike's Madonna Story is the sixth episode of season one of Growing Pains, a popular American sitcom which first aired in 1985. The show follows the lives of the Seaver family, their friends, and their neighbors as they navigate the ups and downs of life in Long Island, New York.
In this particular episode, we see the family preparing for dinner while Mike, the eldest son of the Seavers, is up in his room listening to Madonna's new album. Mike is deeply in love with Madonna and has spent hours planning out his perfect date with her. He enlists the help of his best friend, Boner, to try and snag tickets to her upcoming concert.
Meanwhile, back at the Seaver household, we see Carol, Mike's younger sister, getting ready for a big dance. Carol is excited to go with her crush Bobby, even though Bobby is still dating his ex-girlfriend, and Carol may end up being the "other woman." The family is supportive of Carol's decision to go to the dance, but they worry about the ethical implications of her being part of a love triangle.
As the day progresses, we see Mike and Boner hilariously trying to get their hands on Madonna tickets, including using a homemade slingshot to try and retrieve the tickets from a scalper. Eventually, they are able to successfully score tickets to the concert.
At the dance, Carol runs into Bobby, who is still with his ex-girlfriend. Feeling rejected and heartbroken, Carol decides to leave the dance early. When she gets home, Mike is there to console her. The siblings have a heart-to-heart where Mike tells her about his own struggles with love and relationships.
As the episode comes to a close, we see Mike attending the Madonna concert with Boner, completely unaware that his parents have also decided to attend the concert as a romantic date night. Hilarity ensues as the Seavers and Boner awkwardly run into each other at the concert, but ultimately everyone has a great time.
