In Grey's Anatomy season 14 episode 2 titled "Get Off on the Pain," the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital continue to navigate the challenges of their personal and professional lives.
As the hospital deals with a shortage of surgeons due to recent departures, Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pompeo) steps up as interim Chief of General Surgery. While trying to balance her new responsibilities with her parenting duties, she takes on a complicated case involving a patient with a chronic illness.
Meanwhile, Amelia Shepherd (played by Caterina Scorsone) struggles with her own health issues as she tries to avoid confronting her addiction to pain medication. With the help of her friend and fellow doctor, Alex Karev (played by Justin Chambers), she attempts to get clean and get back in the operating room.
Elsewhere in the hospital, tensions run high between attending physicians and their interns as they compete for surgical cases. Arizona Robbins (played by Jessica Capshaw) takes on the role of mentor to a talented young intern, but finds herself clashing with the attending surgeon in charge of the case.
Meanwhile, the hospital's newest addition, Dr. Eliza Minnick (played by Marika Dominczyk), continues to ruffle feathers with her unorthodox teaching methods. Her conflicts with some of the hospital's senior attendings come to a head, leading to a dramatic showdown in the operating room.
As the doctors struggle with their personal and professional challenges, they must also come together to provide the best care for their patients. With life and death decisions at every turn, the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital continue to push the boundaries of modern medicine, while also confronting their own limitations and vulnerabilities.
