In Grey's Anatomy season 13 episode 15 entitled "Civil War," tensions are high at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as different groups of doctors are pitted against one another in a fierce competition for funding.
The episode opens with Meredith Grey and the rest of the doctors being informed of a major financial crisis at the hospital. As a result, the hospital's board of directors has decided to divide the doctors into two separate teams and pit them against each other in a competition. The winning team will receive much-needed funding, while the losing team will be left to fend for themselves.
The two teams are led by none other than Meredith Grey and her former chief resident, Dr. Eliza Minnick. Although Meredith is initially hesitant to take on the role of team captain, she eventually accepts the challenge, knowing that the hospital's future is at stake.
As the competition heats up, tensions begin to rise between the two teams. As Meredith and her team work tirelessly to come up with innovative ideas to save the hospital, Dr. Minnick and her team begin to take a more cutthroat approach, using underhanded tactics to try to gain an advantage.
Amidst all the chaos, relationships begin to fray, as old wounds are reopened and rivalries are reignited. In particular, tensions between Meredith and Dr. Riggs reach a boiling point, as the two clash over differing opinions on patient care. Meanwhile, tensions between Alex and Jo continue to escalate, as Alex struggles with his feelings for Jo and his guilt over what he did to DeLuca.
Despite all the drama and tension, the doctors continue to work tirelessly to save the hospital. With time running out, Meredith and her team come up with a bold plan to generate much-needed revenue. But will it be enough to secure their victory, or will Minnick and her team come out on top?
In the end, "Civil War" offers a gripping and emotionally charged look at the challenges facing the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. As the battle for funding comes to a head, the doctors must navigate a minefield of personal and professional conflicts, all while trying to save the hospital they call home.
